Reuters seeks private equity reporter

Reuters is looking for an enterprising and experienced journalist to join our deals team in New York to report on private equity and initial public offerings.

The successful candidate will break news on the biggest leveraged buyouts, buyout fund raisings and initial public offerings of companies, and will write in-depth pieces on equity capital markets and the secretive world of private equity.

We are looking for someone who can write with flair about a sector whose power and riches have soared since the financial crisis and whose reach extends across the global economy and into the Oval Office. This role requires a talented reporter who can cultivate a broad range of sources and dig deep into the finances of a deal.

We want a team player who will collaborate with other reporters, including our White House team as well as other members of the finance team, to write about how private equity is shaping markets and influencing policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus at least 5 years experience as a journalist
  • A strong track record of scoops and excellent writing skills. Editing experience a plus
  • Experience with M&A, private equity or initial public offering reporting desirable but not mandatory
