Reuters is seeking a reporter who can break news and write authoritatively about one of the most important political and regional economic stories going: the financial struggles of Illinois and the City of Chicago.
The beat involves politics, finance, legislation and law, is a highly competitive story and affects readers ranging from investors in municipal bonds to union workers, politicians and the general public. Based in Chicago, the reporter will report to the Chicago bureau chief and work closely with the U.S. public finance editor based in New York.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at least five years experience, a deep knowledge of politics in Illinois and Chicago, and a facility for translating complicated financial and political stories into engaging copy that highlights the stakes involved, cuts through rhetoric, and gets to the essence of the Chicago and Illinois drama.
