Reuters is looking for an experienced and highly competitive business journalist to be part of its deals team in New York.
The successful candidate will be breaking news on the largest mergers and acquisitions in corporate America and focus on the consumer and retail sectors. The role requires a deep understanding of how corporate executives and dealmakers operate, strong source-building and networking skills, and the ability to quickly and methodically familiarize oneself with a large number of companies and their strategy.
The M&A reporter is also expected to be tapping sources to produce investigative stories on the inner workings of companies and how they interact with Wall Street.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
At least 5 years experience of companies-related reporting.
Familiarity with the consumer and retail sectors preferred
A strong track record of scoops and ability to write with flair.
A demonstrated ability to break M&A news preferred but not mandatory
