The Mexico City bureau of Reuters is looking for an experienced reporter with a deep source book who can drive our energy file in Latin America.
The successful candidate will play a lead role in our most ambitious reporting on developments in the oil and gas sector throughout the region, on crude and fuel imports and exports and on major changes in the sector. The liberalization of the industry has sparked a huge inflow of investments in several countries that will bring a rise in production and economic change across the region.
The Latin America energy correspondent will drive investigative journalism on stories such as the decline of Venezuela’s state oil firm PDVSA and the clean-up of Brazil’s state energy giant Petrobras.
The successful applicant will be required to coordinate with oil reporters across the region, write about crude exports from regional giants Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador and Colombia, and about import demand that is mostly met by refiners from the United States, while breaking news and spot coverage of energy trade flows throughout the region.
