This editor will ensure that Reuters stands out on an essential subject for our readers: the rewriting of Dodd Frank financial reform legislation and the unwinding of many regulations written in the post-financial-crisis era.
The team covers all of the banking agencies, including the Federal Reserve, FDIC and Office of Comptroller of the Currency, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, and the housing finance agencies. The team is also responsible for covering (and breaking news on) enforcement activities from those agencies, in addition to their regulatory moves.
The successful candidate will be an inspirational manager who can lead a team of reporters to scoop the competition with exclusives and bring insights with enterprising stories and analyses. He or she will bring a strong grasp of U.S. and international financial regulation and be well-sourced (or able to source up quickly) with key decision-makers.
This job requires close collaboration with colleagues in Washington, including the team covering corporate regulation and enforcement, as well as with editors and reporters elsewhere.
Qualifications:
• At least five years’ experience covering financial news or regulation
• Prior management or news leadership experience
• A deep knowledge of U.S. and international financial regulation and enforcement
• Strong sourcing or a proven ability to source up quickly
• Experience managing reporters and editing stories, both spot and enterprise
• A strong background in breaking exclusive news and writing enterprising stories
• A team player who can collaborate with colleagues in different parts of the office and different parts of the world
• Experience with multi-media projects and public speaking a plus
