Reuters seeks company news editor in London

Reuters is seeking a journalist full of ideas to join the EMEA regional news editing team as Company News Editor for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The successful candidate will lead a corporate news file that is critical to Thomson Reuters success in selling our services to traders, investors and media clients.

She or he will be a leader in generating story ideas across a hugely varied region that includes everything from some of the world’s oldest and biggest companies to little-known start-ups in fast-growing frontier countries.

The company news file is spread across many sectors, geographies and time zones. It ranges from the snapping of disclosure news to exclusives, richly-reported initiative pieces and people stories that lift the lid on companies, industry sectors, countries and economies.

The editor will work with the Deputy Company News Editor for EMEA to spot important stories in the morning rush of disclosure news and work with correspondents to build up well-reported stories from spot. He or she will also work with specialist correspondents and bureaus to build a pipeline of telling and original stories that have the power to change the way clients think about companies and the people that run them.

The successful applicant will have a track record of writing, reporting and story-telling. They will be able to coach reporters in all aspects and be able to write and edit if necessary. They will work closely with the rest of the editing team across politics, economics, banking, financial markets and commodities.

The Company News Editor will need excellent communication and personal skills to communicate ideas clearly, liaise with their peers in Asia and the Americas, work with our snapping teams in Bangalore and Gdynia and staff in bureaus where English is not their first language.

Reporting to the Company News Editor will be the Deputy Company News Edit, EMEA and a group of specialist industry sector correspondents.
