Reuters seeks chief correspondent in Toronto

Reuters is looking for a dynamic, experienced editor to help lead the Canadian enterprise file and oversee the ambitious journalism being produced by talented reporters.

The successful candidate must be an outstanding writer who is able to conceive, develop and edit intelligent stories on sophisticated topics across a range of beats.

This senior management role deputizes for the bureau chief and the right candidate must possess excellent managerial skills and have previously run teams of reporters. They must be a self-starter and an effective communicator.

Qualifications
– At least 10 years experience
– Excellent news judgement and writing skills
– Proven ability to manage and implement change
– Proven leadership abilities to develop and coach staff
– Demonstrated ability to generate original ideas and turn them into lively, deeply-reported stories

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
