November 9, 2022

Posted by Chris Roush

Reuters is looking for an experienced, sharp and motivated journalist to join our London-based emerging markets team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a group covering the financial markets of emerging economies worldwide, from Moscow to Brasilia and Beijing to Johannesburg, as developing nations grapple with unprecedented challenges.

We want someone who can break news and deliver real insight for our readers on major developments in emerging markets from bond defaults to capital controls and explain how global investors are approaching these economies, with the impact of climate change at the forefront of their struggles.

The successful candidate will be someone who has, or can build, an extensive source network among the specialist banking, investment and legal community in London and other financial centres, as well as working closely with Reuters large bureau network. The role requires a high level of numeracy and analytical ability, making the most of Thomson Reuters’ extensive suite of tools. The ideal candidate will be able to join the dots on the interaction of markets with the economy and policymaking, to produce insightful step-back pieces as well as breaking news, using charts and graphics to illustrate their pieces for a broad readership.

About the Role

As our Emerging Markets Correspondent, you will:

  • Deliver breaking news at speed and provide unparalleled insights on often opaque markets
  • Work with close colleagues and teams around the world on the financial market and economic impacts of major events and policy making
  • Investigate and write in-depth about investment trends and flows across all asset classes
  • Cover visiting newsmakers and government officials from around the globe
  • Interview policy makers and influential investment professionals, often working together with our Reuters Events team
