Reuters seeks a retail reporter

Reuters is seeking an experienced business journalist to produce exclusives and deeply reported stories on major retailers from Amazon to Walmart.

The job provides an excellent opportunity to shape what readers think about some of the best-known companies in the world. The reporter should have a radar for shifts in consumer habits and tastes that may impact what people buy and how and where they buy it. A global perspective is a plus.

You should have:

An ability to cultivate sources and gain access to exclusive documents

Strong news judgment

An ability to tune out noise and focus on the biggest stories

An ability to use multimedia elements to enhance stories, from graphics to pictures and video

A track record of reporting and writing ambitious, exclusive and high-impact business stories

This role is based in the US. A global perspective is a plus.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
