Reuters seeks a reporter in Poland

Reuters is seeking News Reporter with fluent English and French to join its real-time news operation in Gdansk, Poland.

The reporter will work in fast paced, international environment to produce headlines, write short stories about companies from one of Europe’s biggest economies, produce multimedia packages, translate international news for Reuters’ French-speaking audience, and become part of Reuters’ global network.

Trading desks, hedge funds and asset managers at major multinational banks use subscription-based Eikon terminal to get fast & accurate information to base their investment decision on. Your stories for Reuters will also be seen by our media clients, on Reuters.com and other websites read by the public. Reuters news and information reach one billion people every day.

About the Role

As our French speaking News Reporter, you will:

  • Scan press releases from companies and regulators in English and French to quickly identify key information, write headlines and news summaries in both languages
  • Monitor stock price changes and writing short English-language news summaries explaining the moves
  • Write short alerts on French, Belgian, and Dutch macroeconomic data, such as GDP and inflation, quickly and accurately
  • Translate market reports, general, political, economic and company news stories from English to French
  • Apply news judgment to pick relevant Reuters news and package it with pictures and videos for Reuters News online clients

About You

To be our French speaking News Reporter, you will likely have:

  • Fluency in English and French
  • Strong translation skills
  • Strong news judgment and the ability to write with speed, clarity, accuracy and freedom from bias
  • A sound command of grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Comfort with handling financial data and facts accurately and quickly
  • Knowledge of corporate activity, stock markets and financial vocabulary, or an ability to gain such knowledge quickly
  • An ability to work under time pressure
  • Willingness to work in shifts and on weekends
