Reuters seeks a data visualization editor

Reuters seeks a seasoned editor to direct and coordinate the production of initiative journalism across our graphics, data and investigative reporting teams.

You will join an award-winning team that has published dozens of deeply reported and visually striking stories on topics ranging from foreign affairs to the environment and financial news.

Candidates should have the data skills, news judgement and artistic chops to present stories in clear and novel ways. He or she should be comfortable advocating the tenets of design and visual literacy both within the newsroom and with the broader professional community.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in investigative visual journalism in a news room.
  • The ability to collaborate with others is essential. The job requires working with graphics colleagues in New York, London and Singapore, and text reporters around the world.
  • Front-end development fluency with  HTML5, CSS3 and javascript, including libraries such as D3, react and JQuery as well as mapping tools such as TileMill, QGIS, and TopoJSON. Knowledge of back-end development languages like python or node.js a plus.
  • Mastery of the Adobe creative suite, particularly Adobe Illustrator required.
  • This position is based in New York and reports to the Global Head of Graphics.
