Reuters Breakingviews seeks a columnist

Reuters Breakingviews is looking for a talented, original thinker to join our team of columnists covering U.S. companies, economics and financial markets. We’re looking for a journalist with good ideas, a collegial approach, a desire to be the best at what they do – and no fear of tight deadlines.

Being a Breakingviews columnist means writing sharp, punchy opinion pieces that appeal to a high-level global audience. We have around 30 columnists worldwide, each of whom enjoys an enviable network of contacts and an eye for an agenda-setting view.

The essentials:

  • The ability to structure thoughtful opinion columns to deadline
  • Knowledge of basic M&A math and financial reporting
  • High-level contacts and a knack for making new ones
  • Expertise that is additive to our existing coverage
  • A proven desire to build a following and a profile among readers

This job will most likely be based in New York, though proposals to carry out the role from other North American locations will also be considered.
