The role requires a deep understanding of how corporate executives and dealmakers operate, strong source-building and networking skills, and the ability to quickly and methodically familiarize oneself with a large number of companies and their strategies.
The reporter is expected to work closely with deal reporters and media and telecommunications correspondents in New York and the technology reporting team in San Francisco as they seek to break news on mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and private fundraisings.
The successful candidate will also tap sources to produce investigative stories on the inner workings of companies and how they interact with Wall Street. The job can be based in New York or San Francisco.
