Register-Guard in Oregon seeks business team editor

The Register-Guard/registerguard.com seeks an experienced business journalist for the position of business team editor. Demonstrated skills on digital and print platforms are desired.

This is a crucial hire for the newsroom. This editor oversees a team of staff reporters, clerical help, interns and freelancers to produce a compelling business report on multiple platforms for the south Willamette Valley.

Our diverse economy is driven by a burgeoning high tech industry, a wide array of manufacturers and entrepreneurs, beer and wine production, tourism, and higher education, including the University of Oregon.

The business team editor’s mission is to break news on our digital platform, registerguard.com, and generate compelling content for our array of print products, including Page One of the daily Register-Guard newspaper, the daily Business section, the Sunday Business section, and a monthly specialty business publication, Blue Chip.

The business team editor reports to and fills in for the newsroom’s senior editor in the senior editor’s absence. The business team editor is a member of the newsroom’s management team, helping guide The Register-Guard/registerguard.com as the media company broadens its digital reach.

Business journalism experience is necessary. Experience in other coverage areas, including government and public policy, is preferred.  Possession of a reliable, insured automobile; a valid driver’s license and a good driving record required.  Driving record will be verified.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and the successful candidate will enjoy an exceptional benefits plan.

To apply, please submit cover letter, resume, completed job application, up to six clips of your work, and list of references electronically to rgjob.applications@registerguard.com or mail to: Business Team Editor, HR Department, The Register-Guard, 3500 Chad Drive, Eugene, OR 97408.
