Quartz seeks a platform editor to help expand the reach of our journalism in smart, creative, and rigorous ways. This is a new position for us, so it will necessarily change over time, but some of the key functions we imagine from day one are:
— Editorial strategy: Help us figure out the best approach to writing and developing for specific platforms, like email, apps, etc.
— Product management: Guide development of some existing and new products, with a particular focus on extensions of Quartz beyond qz.com.
— Data analysis: Track and analyze how people interact with our journalism on all platforms. Help inform our strategy with relevant data.
— Business development: Strike up and maintain relationships with partners to distribute our work or help us be creative about producing it.
If any of this sounds vague, it’s only because we’ll be making it up as we go along. The right person for the role will be excited by that idea. She should also have experience in at least one of the areas mentioned above and an aptitude for all of them. It’s a newsroom position reporting to the VP of product.
To apply, please submit a resume along with a letter with thoughts about what this role could be and how it might function. If you have links to any relevant work, please include those, as well.
