Quartz seeks editor to lead expansion of management coverage

Quartz seeks an editor to lead the expansion of its management coverage, taking an entrepreneurial approach to defining our journalism in this area and working with several reporters and outside contributors focused on it.

The mandate is to identify the most interesting ideas and approaches to business and management and present them in fresh ways for our global readership. We’re looking for someone who can help shape our efforts to take bracingly creative approaches to covering business news.

We’d look to you to identify people who deserve more attention, business theories and practices that are provocative and compelling, and interesting ways in which organizations are evolving. You will see around corners to where business and technology are heading, and surface detailed examples that help readers understand what entrepreneurs are obsessing about and how incumbents are innovating.

We’d want you to be both excited about the fundamental potential of business and management and thoughtful, critical, interdisciplinary, and creative in your coverage of them. There are significant opportunities to lead any extensions of the coverage to other platforms such as email newsletters.

We are looking for someone with professional editing and reporting experience, a facility with data, an entrepreneurial approach to their work, and the ability to convey curiosity and humor in their writing. You should feel comfortable with formats other than 700-word articles (such as shorter pieces, photos, and charts) when they’re better for efficiently and effectively getting a story across. International experience and languages are a plus.

To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and five links to relevant work. The links matter most.
