Quartz seeks an economics reporter obsessed with changes in labor markets, global trade, and the impact of monetary policy on countries and companies.
We are looking for a journalist with:
- a deep understanding of and fascination with economics
- at least five years’ professional reporting experience or equivalent experience in the field of economics
- an entrepreneurial approach
- data fluency
- the ability to convey curiosity, sophistication, and a clear point of view in your writing.
At Quartz we take a global, interdisciplinary, forward-looking approach to covering the news. US economic trends and monetary policy will be essential elements of your beat, but your coverage should expand from there, with stories that explain or predict the impact of these developments on people, politics, and businesses around the world.
You should feel equally comfortable reporting and writing short pieces of news analysis, chart-based articles, scoops of fact or insight, and deeply reported features. Experimenting with new ways to put news and data into context will be a central challenge of the job.
All locations will be considered. (Quartz is currently all-remote, which means you would be onboarding in a remote environment.) To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and five links to relevant stories you’ve written and reported.
