Quad-City Times seeks a business reporter

The Quad-City Times is seeking a business reporter.

This position covers the Quad-Cities, a cluster of communities in a metro area of about 475,000 along the Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois. We’re home to about 3,000 employers, including John Deere’s world headquarters, newspaper publisher Lee Enterprises, aerospace company Arconic and the Rock Island Arsenal, a major military base.

The best candidates will have previous newsroom experience covering a business-related beat, though candidates with exceptional clips from other beats will be considered.

Tasks include daily reporting on the business community for our Economy page and website, as well as enterprise-focused reporting on local business trends. This position is also the lead reporter for Insight Magazine, a high-gloss quarterly business journal for CEOs. Bylines will also be published in our sister paper, the Illinois-focused Dispatch-Argus.

We’re a digital-first newsroom in a competitive media market, so live video and digital reporting skills are a must. So are a curious mind, clean writing style and an understanding of economics and commerce.

Applications must include a cover letter, resume and five examples of your finest work.

To apply, go here.
