PYMNTS seeks a senior business reporter

Respected digital news publication seeks senior business reporter/writer who can either pitch, source, and deliver stories and breaking news articles OR easily embrace wide-ranging assignments for a daily newsletter and website that serves as the global payments and e-commerce industry’s go-to news source.

Successful candidates will have strong business reporting experience, be comfortable juggling diverse assignments and meeting 2-3 hour deadlines, and also be able to deliver creative and compelling copy and headlines.  Other key skills include an understanding of SEO and how to optimize content for digital traffic, the ability to develop and maintain industry sources, excellent reporting, analytical and writing skills, and a good sense of the technology and payments trends that are reshaping commerce globally.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with the Managing Editor to sync content direction with overall publication.
  • Develop (or receive) actionable coverage ideas and content related to trends and issues that intersect with the payments and commerce experience.
  • Must be skilled on the phone and Zoom and able to converse with high-ranking executives.
  • 3-4 years+ of Digital newsroom and journalism experience.

He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
