PYMNTS seeks a retail editor

PYMNTS is looking for a Retail Editor to write, assemble and prepare a daily online newsletter for the payments and commerce industry’s go-to news source globally. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with retail industry experience that knows how to churn out creative and compelling copy, write headlines, optimize it for digital traffic and SEO and maintain outreach with sources. Excellent reporting and writing skills needed. Speed at the keyboard essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES/Qualifications

  • Collaborate closely with the Managing Editor to sync content direction with overall publication.
  • Select profile stories with key retailers and DTC companies. Other stories cover trends and issues that intersect with the payments and commerce experience. The newsletter covers “how we shop.”
  • Collaborate with Client Services to write and edit profiles of key companies; must be skilled on phone and on Zoom with high-ranking executives.
  • 3-4 years+ of Digital newsroom experience.

PYMNTS is conveniently located in the Financial District of downtown Boston.  This position can be remote if candidates are not in the Greater Boston area.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
