Providence Business News seeks web editor

March 8, 2016

Southern New England’s leading business news organization is looking for an enterprising, energetic, entrepreneurial editor/writer attuned to the needs of today’s digital audience with command of the tools to drive greater engagement.

We are doing well at the moment, with a 50 percent gain in visitors and more than double the number of page views in the last year, but we want more. We want someone who can take the velocity of the digital business news world and translate that into not just more page views (of course) but a deeper connection to our audience and potential audience.

One piece of that is the need to create a coherent social media strategy that doesn’t just support what we do as business news gatherers but illuminates new opportunities.

Our Web Editor must be able to make snap and solid news judgments that resonate with our business audience, and make the website reflect that. Application should include evidence of great journalism, Web mastery and specific examples of how you have made a significant difference to a news organization’s online success.

This position is one that requires facile and exacting editing, as well as a bright and tight writing style. We also want to develop a set of outside contributors to draw our reader community deeper into our sphere of influence in a way that complements the journalism we practice every day.

Send resume and examples of your work to Editor Mark Murphy at editor@pbn.com.
