Polygon is looking for writers! I’m looking for thoughtful freelance pitches about your hopes for the Star Wars franchise. Polygon is also looking for some pitches related to MINIONS and their weird place in culture. Ideally searching for short, snappy, fun pieces that dive into weird observations.
Deadline: 16 May 2022
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Polygon is a gaming and entertainment website in partnership with Vox Media. This culture-focused site covers games, their creators, the fans, trending stories and entertainment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The theme is insightful tomfoolery! — if you need an idea of what we’re looking for, check out our previous Shrek Day package, which most closely captures the tone we’re seeking.
Here’s a Star Wars piece I wrote that shows what we’re looking for, and lists what we’ve done on the subject so far
We’re looking to run the next batch of pieces the last week of May and first week of June, so I’d say pitches should be in by May 16th at the latest. We would possibly take particularly good ideas in this vein as one-offs after that, though. This is not one of our usual projects (like the Minions project) that’s planned as a one-and-done thing, a bit more of a rolling series of essays. But I’m currently looking to book 3-4 total for May/June.
