Politico seeks editor for trade/agriculture coverage

Politico Pro is looking for a smart, enthusiastic and fast editor to help lead our trade and agriculture coverage.

There will be no shortage of excitement in the year ahead as President Donald Trump looks to make good on his promises to get tough on China and renegotiate NAFTA while a Republican Congress begins debating how it might treat the agriculture industry and food stamp recipients in the next farm bill. We need someone to assist our group’s other editor manage a talented staff of seven reporters, coordinating both fast-moving news stories and longer enterprise pieces.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an energetic editor or polished writer with some knowledge of trade or agriculture policy and Hill experience who loves politics and thrives in a dynamic newsroom.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
