Politico seeks an editorial director

POLITICO is looking for an editorial leader to bring to life our ambitious expansion of live events. We are seeking nothing less than to convene the most influential voices around the biggest political and policy choices shaping the future of the world – and to expand into new live experience formats and into new geographies to better connect our audiences around the globe.

The Editorial Director will develop the content of our live events – from newsmaker interviews to in-depth policy discussions to full-scale summits at the national and international level. This is a managerial role that oversees a staff of editorial producers that work in collaboration with our production and commercial teams. The Editorial Director reports to the Executive Editor for Growth.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Conceptualize distinctive and compelling conversations that appeal to POLITICO’s influential audience
  • Work with our booking team to secure the most influential and newsworthy speakers
  • Work with newsroom moderators to execute lively and unforgettable conversations
  • Work with editors and journalists across our newsroom to prepare event concepts and coordinate editorial coverage before, during and after major events across a variety of platforms
  • Serve as a key stakeholder in defining the strategy and vision on product, experience and commercial offerings to position POLITICO as a global events leader
  • Work with our commercial teams to respond to inbound requests and market feedback
  • Represent POLITICO as the public face of our live events

What You’ll Need:

  • Ability to conceive and design ambitious live programs in the realms of politics and policy
  • Impeccable writing skills and sound journalistic judgment
  • 8+ years newsroom experience or experience in live event programming
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage numerous projects on deadline in a fast-paced newsroom environment
