Politico seeks an economy and financial services reporter

Politico is seeking an experienced reporter to cover the policies and politics that shape Washington’s oversight of banking, finance and the economy.

You’ll be at the center of an important, high-profile beat with efforts in Washington to keep the country out of recession serving as a backdrop to the 2024 election.

This role will focus closely on key agencies such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Treasury Department, as well as leading congressional committees. You’ll deliver for all of our platforms – from Politico Pro to newsletters (such as Morning Money) to politico.com.

What You’ll Need:

  • A strong understanding of finance or financial regulation
  • Experience covering Washington policy debates
  • Track record of delivering high-impact scoops and enterprise
  • History of working collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom
  • Ability to juggle daily coverage with longer-term stories while delivering accuracy and clarity
