POLITICO seeks an experienced Editorial Art Director and designer to join our Visuals Team. This is a temporary position spanning September 2023 – April 2024.
The ideal candidate will have keen editorial judgement and a passion for visually driven storytelling.
They’ll also have experience working closely with photo editors, designers, story editors and reporters to brainstorm visual approaches, pinpoint and prioritize visual opportunities, and craft our approach. They’ll have a full rolodex of illustrators and agents, and a portfolio that shows a knack for visual continuity and thoughtful pacing.
This position will also be responsible for providing constructive, actionable feedback to members of the Visuals Team. That means sharpening visual approaches, suggesting illustrators, editing daily in-house illustrations, and, pending experience, creating your own.
Comfort with deadlines is a must. Each week the Visuals Team partners on narratives ranging from Magazine features to Policy explainers and newsletter key art to pop-culture.
