We’re seeking a high-impact and experienced political reporter to cover politics, power and influence in Los Angeles and help fuel POLITICO’s California expansion. We’re deepening our investment in California and looking to own the political and policy story here like only POLITICO can – and Southern California is key to that mission. The nation’s vast and diverse second-largest city helps drive California and national politics and is central to the entertainment, media, technology and education sectors – in other words, it’s POLITICO’s kind of place.
We want an aggressive and creative reporter who can bring the power players and political characters of Los Angeles – as well as politically influential Orange County and San Diego – to life for our state and national readers. We want someone who can peel back the curtain and show our influential audience how Los Angeles politics – whether it’s in City Hall, the Board of Supervisors or Los Angeles’ powerful donor class – intersects with power dynamics in Sacramento, San Francisco, Washington, DC and beyond. This reporter will report and write across our platforms and be a central part of a growing California operation.
What You’ll Need:
- A track record of strong and innovative reporting in politics, policy or business
- A sophisticated understanding of Los Angeles and California politics and its key players
- Strong and incisive writing skills
- An entrepreneurial streak and a desire to help build a truly distinctive POLITICO publication in California
- A collaborative attitude and desire to be part of a growing statewide team
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Los Angeles, CA is $110,000.00-$160,000.00 per year.
