Summary: This is a highly creative role that requires solid storytelling, journalism, production, organizational, and communication skills. The Producer will collaborate with a group of talented colleagues to create, develop, and execute broadcast and digital content; coordinate assigned productions; research stories; conduct interviews; communicate and collaborate with teams for electronic field production (EFP), studio, or remote programs as assigned; log video; write scripts, and work closely with photographers and editors.
What the Producer Position Does:
- Produce series, specials, and short digital segments
- Coordinate the activities of staff assigned to productions
- Work collaboratively with production crews including videographers and editors in the development and execution of projects.
- Conduct necessary research to obtain information required to develop stories and concepts.
- Write scripts.
- Arrange and conduct interviews.
- Successfully complete projects on time and within budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting, Communications, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum five years of experience writing and producing nonfiction content, with a strong focus on field production.
- Must be a strong writer and storyteller capable of producing visually impactful stories.
- Experience in a journalism organization
- Strong expertise in video production techniques
- Demonstrated ability to produce for both broadcast and social channel distribution.
- Ability to shoot video and edit on Adobe Premiere preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues
- Ability to travel to shoots throughout New England, focusing on Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
- Must be available for occasional evenings and weekends.
