Pamplin Media Group is hiring an assistant bureau editor. Pamplin Media is the source for comprehensive coverage of local news in the Portland metro area, the beautiful Willamette Valley, and Central Oregon. Pamplin Media uncovers stories that shape our communities, celebrate the achievements of our neighbors, and hold those in power accountable. This position works as part of our west zone news team covering communities in Washington, Yamhill and Columbia counties, including Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard and Tualatin. Our west zone office is located in Forest Grove, Oregon.
PMG assistant bureau editors are responsible for assisting bureau editors in the daily news operations of the publications/websites within their bureaus while also generating daily content as community reporters. PMG assistant bureau editors are responsible for daily coverage of their communities, as well as working collaboratively within their bureau on internal and external collaborations.
PMG assistant bureau editors will produce daily content for bureau websites and print products. This position will also perform editorial tasks and serve as backup bureau editor on occasion. PMG is a fast-paced environment and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously is a necessity. The position also requires excellent reporting, copy editing, graphic design, and photography skills. Strong people-management and a proven record with teams is also needed. Attention to detail is essential, as is a demonstrated ability to produce balanced and diplomatic coverage.
Work experience and education requirements:
Salary range is $19 to $22 an hour, includes benefits, generous vacation and sick time, as well as 401K.
