Pacific Coast Biz Times seeks real estate/banking reporter

Pacific Coast Business Times, the weekly business journal for the Central Coast of California is looking for a commercial real estate/banking writer who will also cover the regional economy.

This is a full-time salaried staff writer position we will expect you to contribute to our print, online and social media platforms. Your beat will include economic development in the attractive but often contentious communities in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties.

You’ll benefit from the economic experts at UC Santa Barbara, Cal Lutheran, CSU Channel Islands and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This is a slow growth market but also an emerging technology hub that’s gaining recognition as a mini-Silicon Valley.

Undergraduate degree, familiarity with business news fundamentals and 1-3 years of experience preferred.  Salary includes health benefits.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
