As the No. 2 editor, you will play an integral role in shaping the quality and direction of our esteemed publication.
Qualifications We Are Seeking:
- Proficient writer with a keen eye for detail.
- Organized self-starter with strong leadership skills.
- Excellent collaborator and adept communicator.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, though relevant on-the-job experience will be considered.
- Familiarity with AP Stylebook, sound typing skills, and an understanding of journalism ethics and standards are desirable.
- Actively participate in Ottumwa Courier’s Editorial Board.
- Cover local education and other pertinent stories.
- Manage the production of special publications and magazines, overseeing both content and layout.
- Supervise obituaries and celebrations announcements.
- Provide editorial guidance and support to staff members.
- Contribute to the daily news budget and facilitate the production process.
