Orlando Sentinel seeks tourism reporter

The Orlando Sentinel is looking for a digital-first reporter to be part of our tourism team and cover a wide variety of tourism news: conventions, the tourism corridor of International Drive, smaller attractions, hotels, timeshares and airlines.

The reporter will also assist with coverage of Disney, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld. The ideal candidate has excellent reporting skills along with a digital mindset that includes being comfortable with multimedia storytelling and embracing innovation to engage a digital audience.

The reporter must know how to develop sources, use databases for reporting and write compelling stories that are accurate, complete and deeply reported.

The reporter must be active on social media and have experience at a daily news organization with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
