Oregon Business seeks a reporter

Oregon Business magazine seeks a full-time, general assignment business ‪reporter to cover ‪news and features about business, government, technology, environment and innovation.

Excellent written and analytical skills required. Looking for enthusiastic newshound with demonstrated knowledge of current events and keen interest in Oregon business and politics.

This position requires writing short- and long-form articles for web and print publications. Reporter will work closely with a small, dedicated editorial team and share responsibilities for social media and content management. Light HTML skills also required.

Qualified candidates should respond through Indeed interface with a resume, cover letter and 2-3 relevant journalism writing samples/links.

Oregon Business is an award-winning business and public policy magazine and website. Our digital and print publications reach business, political and civic leaders across the state. We report on a wide range of such big-tent topics as leadership, innovation, technology, culture, politics and environment.

Compensation includes salary and benefits package including a medical/dental plan, life insurance, 401k matching, commuting reimbursement, pretax deductions for childcare and medical flexible spending accounts, generous paid vacations/holidays/sick leave, telecommuting policy, flexible hours and downtown location on the Max line.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
