The Orange County Business Journal seeks a Research Director to help our talented newsroom, engage vibrant and diverse business community and build on strong base of operations.
Our market features some of the world’s most prominent medical device makers, financial firms, consumer brands, real estate executives and restaurant chains. Our market has a growing health industry, significant academic institutions, globally known tourist destinations, and major league sports teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee and manage the Research department
- Compile about 60 annual industry-specific reports (“the Lists”) on thousands of local nonprofits, public and private companies based on quantitative research
- Survey, collect and analyze data on local companies by using primary and secondary sources
- Create spreadsheets and charts to accompany the published Lists
- Interpret data and fact-check articles to ensure that information is presented accurately
- Detect and correct errors in spelling, grammar, AP style and word usage
- Proficient with contact and survey management database, DataJoe
- Edit Calendar, Real Estate Deals, and stories relating to the Lists

The position reports to the Editor.
Salary: $24.04 hourly
