Omaha World-Herald seeks a government reporter-Omaha metro area

The Omaha World-Herald, Nebraska’s largest newspaper and a Lee Enterprises publication, is seeking a strong local government reporter to help cover the Omaha metro area of nearly one million residents. This beat includes the City of Omaha, surrounding metro area cities, and local counties. It produces a balance of daily news stories and in-depth investigative enterprise stories for print and digital platforms.

  • We are seeking candidates who are curious and tenacious
  • Reporters who can dig deep and ask tough watchdog questions that result in engaging stories that matter.
  • We want to tell stories that resonate with readers about how government actions affect their lives. And we want to hold officials responsible for how they serve the public.
  • If you have a passion for getting the scoop, can cultivate reliable sources, are able to work quickly and accurately and have good storytelling skills, this may be the job for you.
  • The ability to produce timely reports in today’s instant digital news environment is a must.
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
  • A minimum of three years of multi-media journalism is preferred.
