New York TimesWhile the world has long focused on Silicon Valley as the planet’s tech capital, the center of gravity has also moved north to Seattle, where the rise of Amazon and the continued girth of Microsoft has created another tech center. The Times is seeking an aggressive and ambitious correspondent to cover those companies and their leaders, as well as Seattle’s ascendance as a tech hub.

Not only are Amazon and Microsoft changing the way we shop, entertain ourselves, communicate, store information and do business, they have also become a political story, with Amazon’s C.E.O. in the cross hairs of the White House.

Candidates should not only be game and able to cover the core stories, but also be able to think creatively about this high-profile beat, to source energetically, and to take a fearless approach to coverage.

Applicants should be interested and curious about technology and its many tentacles, be enthusiastic and creative about visual and digital storytelling, and have at least several years of experience reporting on technology. Candidates should be highly motivated, collegial and collaborative, and a self-starter. Applicants should submit a resume, examples of previous work, and a memo.

The job is based in Seattle or San Francisco.
