This editor’s work will span daily news coverage, enterprise and special projects. He or she will be responsible for generating story ideas, reporting (and building) stories on his or her own, as well as working closely with other reporters and editors on the desk.
Candidates should have the ability to conceive of original ideas for coverage. They should be able to write clearly and edit to sharpen the relationship between images and copy, working on tight deadlines.
Projects will range from editing and writing text-based stories across a variety of forms to producing purely visual projects. The editor will also be expected to help raise the visual bar across the business section, and he or she will also be expected to provide guidance for the use of chart-making tools.
Candidates should be enthusiastic self-starters who are quick solve problems. Strong communication skills and flexibility are essential.
