NY Times seeks a business reporter in London

The London-based business reporter will cover general assignment stories on a broad range of topics, including finance, economics, technology and corporate developments.   The job primarily involves covering breaking business news out of Britain and Europe with accuracy and speed. You will apply and develop your skills across daily news reporting with the highest standards of journalistic independence and integrity.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.

  • At least two years experience in a similar role

  • Ability to develop, source and write news to deadline

  • Excellent written, grammatical and numeracy skills

  • Advanced ability to analyse data and write engaging content

  • Self-motivated, able to use initiative and equipped with an inquisitive nature

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop and maintain industry contacts, developing relationships with contacts and sharing market intelligence

  • Language skills: native-level English, with proficiency in other languages preferred

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
