NY Times Opinion seeks audio editor

The New York Times Opinion Audio Team is hiring an editor to play a key role in developing new shows and series.

DUTIES:

•  Work with producers to guide them through story and episode making, including editorial direction, narrative arcs, source hunting and interview prep, script editing and notes, scoring and pacing
•  Work with team leadership and hosts to develop formats for new projects, recruit and train hosts and audio reporters from within Opinion and outside, ensure a diverse range of voices and stories, and develop series with Opinion writers and columnists
• Works closely with NYT Opinion columnists and editors in developing story ideas for audio
• Help to guide the production of episodes, giving final edits of drafts and scripts
• Work across Opinion Audio teams to collaborate on new projects and spinoffs

REQUIREMENTS:

•  7+ years of experience editing audio journalism and narrative podcasts
• Demonstrated success in pushing formats and in the creation of shows that rise about a crowded field of competitors
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, deadlines and time-management
• Experience, and interest in, mentoring audio producers
