The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette seeks a sports editor with multiple strengths. We need someone who can write breaking news, compelling features and enterprise; who is comfortable producing in multimedia; and who’s adept at social media Our sports desk covers a variety of professional, college, prep and community sports.
The editor will lead a team of three full-time reporters and a large group of correspondents. We cover two of the state’s three largest population centers with more moving in each day. Northwest Arkansas is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. Home to Walmart, Tyson and the University of Arkansas, the area often ranks as a top location to live and work. Requirements & Responsibilities:
- The position works from our Fayetteville, but travel is a must.
- Applicant must be able to work nights and weekends and provide transportation.
- The position requires a degree in journalism or related field
- A working knowledge of Associated Press style.
- Sports writing experience for a daily or weekly newspaper and management experience in a newsroom also required.
- Experience recording and producing video, audio and podcasts a plus as well as social media experience.
Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
