Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette seeks a news reporter, City of Rogers

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette seeks a news reporter prepared to help us remain the most significant source of news and information in our region.

We need a reporter who understands the best places to find the important issues facing a community are away from city hall. The best candidate for this position will be allergic to jargon and able to provide news on multiple platforms.

Areas of responsibility will be the city of Rogers and health care.

Our region has been rated one of the best places to live and work in the country by several national institutions and publications.

The best candidate will demonstrate an understanding of municipal government; a clear, inviting writing style; good story organization; and a desire to write issue-oriented enterprise pieces.

This is an entry level, full-time position.

The successful candidate must have a degree in journalism or a related field and knowledge of AP style.

Experience at a daily or weekly newspaper is preferred. Experience recording and producing video, audio and podcasts a plus as well as social media experience.

Work schedule is generally Monday – Friday with some night meetings. Applicants must have good driving record and valid driver’s license.
