North Carolina paper seeks reporter to run weekly biz page

The Carteret County News-Times, a three-times a week community newspaper on the state’s Crystal Coast, seeks a full-time staff reporter to cover general assignment, courts and crime, with responsibility for a once-a-week business page.

We’re looking for someone who can be a go-getter for news. We are community oriented and fill our publication with local content. We need someone who can report and shoot photos for print and digital platforms and work with our community.

The job requires attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines and a knowledge of AP style. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and disability and living at the beach.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
