NJBiz seeks an editor

NJBiz, New Jersey’s leading business journal, has an opening for an editor in the Somerset, NJ office.

We cover the breaking business news in the state, everything from economic development to health care, real estate to politics, manufacturing to retail, and all the fun stuff involving bankers, lawyers, accountants and everything else that makes the economy work.

The editor will be responsible for the overall content strategy for the NJBiz brand.  This position will create new topics, edit all articles, assign cover story topics to the team and develop the editorial calendar.

NJBiz is looking for an editor with strong leadership qualities that will drive the thought leadership initiative.  The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience overseeing a website and publication and have at least five years of experience managing an editorial department.  The candidate should also be a digital native with a strong background in growing and maintaining the online audience through social media.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
