NJBiz seeks a real estate reporter

NJBiz, New Jersey’s leading business journal, has an opening for an experienced reporter to cover commercial and residential real estate from its Somerset, N.J., office.

We’re looking for someone with at least three years of daily journalism experience at a highly productive newsroom (business reporting preferred) who is as adept at breaking news as they are at generating enterprise stories, all while adhering to strict daily and weekly deadlines.

The perfect candidate should have an insatiable curiosity to learn about new things and tell interesting stories, while also maintaining a healthy level of skepticism.

NJBiz covers the breaking business news in the state, everything from economic development to health care, real estate to politics, professional services to manufacturing, and everything else that makes the economy work. Good, solid journalism that has impact and influence.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
