NJBiz seeks a business reporter

NJBiz, New Jersey’s leading business journal, has an opening for a reporter in the Somerset, NJ office.

We cover the breaking business news in the state, everything from economic development to health care, real estate to politics, manufacturing to retail, and all the fun stuff involving bankers, lawyers, accountants and everything else that makes the economy work. Good, solid journalism that has impact and influence.

We cover the one-offs in business: Everything from important workplace issues involving diversity, pay, office atmosphere and work-life balance.

This job requires a versatile journalist who relishes plunging into our core topics, learning the basics and turning comprehensive stories driven by tough questions that a niche audience demands.

Other requirements: skepticism; curiosity; a body of published work that shows an ability to engage, explain and enlighten readers; demonstrated ability to break news; experience in highly productive newsrooms.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
