NewYorker.com seeks business editor

Condé Nast seeks an editor for a staff position on newyorker.com.

Overview/Purpose

The function of the editor position is to assign and edit posts for the Currency blog to New Yorker staff writers and freelancers.

Primary Responsibilities

The online editor will be responsible for assigning, editing, and publishing Currency blog posts. Candidates should have the skills to be able to:

Quickly and carefully assign, edit, and proofread blog posts

Publish blog posts and update the business page of newyorker.com using WordPress

Communicate with the rest of the Web team (editors, producers, photo editors, video editors) as well as with the magazine staff to insure that the best stories are assigned and published.

Work with newyorker.com writers and seek out freelancers to write intelligent, informed posts on business, technology, and economics.

Requirements:

Candidates must have:

At least five years experience as an editor, ideally involving business, technology, or economics

Knowledge of the history and style of The New Yorker magazine

Excellent editorial judgment and an eye for detail and accuracy

The ability to generate interesting story ideas, quickly

The ability to quickly master publishing tools

The ability to manage multiple projects at once

Experience, either personal or professional, with and enthusiasm for social-media platforms
