Journo Jobs

Newsquest Media Group seeks a digital reporter

The Hereford Times has an exciting vacancy for a digital reporter.

Ideally, we want someone experienced at covering local news specifically for an online audience. But we will also consider a trainee who demonstrates enthusiasm and a track record of using social media to keep themselves informed about what is going on in their community. We would then help them to become a fully qualified journalist through on-the-job training and a free programme of studies with the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ).

The successful candidate will be reporting on a wide range of subjects. They will need to have an excellent grasp of written English (including grammar and spelling), be comfortable using video and social media, and have a basic understanding of SEO and digital analytics.

But most of all they must be passionate about community and the issues big, small and humorous that affect people’s lives. Curiosity, determination, resilience, and the ability to cope under pressure – as well as being able to talk to people face-to-face, on the phone, or via messaging – are also essential.

A full driving licence is essential, as is a willingness to live in Herefordshire.

Salary: DoE

Expires: 18:36 on 16 February 2023
