Newsday seeks business news web producer

Newsday.com is looking for an experienced Web producer to help us grow the Business section of our website in the competitive New York metro-area market.

This position requires significant Web and newsroom experience, strong news judgment, an interest in mobile news and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include: Running the Business section of newsday.com and our mobile platform on a day-to-day basis with breaking news and other programming. Coming up with ideas and building unique local content, from daily items such as photo galleries and databases to longer-term interactive projects. Working closely with print editors and reporters. Using metrics to inform programming decisions and help improve projects. Staying up-to-date on industry best practices and applying the latest audience growth techniques. Assigning and overseeing the work of assistant Internet news managers and interns.

Our ideal candidate is currently running a news website, homepage or section front. Creative and open to new ideas, and plugged into cutting-edge business websites. Familiar with the Long Island business scene. Fast, accurate and flexible. Well-organized and patient, with project management skills and experience with compelling interactives. Committed to a high standard of journalism with a keen attention to detail. Adept at juggling tasks and calm under pressure in breaking news and deadline situations. Knowledgeable about the role social media and mobile applications play in expanding a website’s reach, and comfortable with technology.
