News-Press & Gazette Company (NPG) seeks an assignment desk editor/digital journalist

The largest news team on local television is seeking a digital journalist to create news content on multiple platforms. The News Channel 3/News Channel 12/News Channel 11 newsroom is seeking an Assignment Desk Editor/Digital Journalist to further enhance local news coverage across all broadcast and online properties.

  • This individual will also assist other members of the team in finding and shaping stories for use in on-air or online coverage.
  • This is a multi-faceted position where tasks include writing and publishing digital content, staffing the weekend and night shift Assignment Desk, taking phone calls, helping coordinate news crews and keeping other members of the news team apprised of changes in coverage plans, assisting with breaking news and staffing the weekend and night shift Assignment Desk.

  • A strong attention to detail
  • Being a team player
  • A knowledge of programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Outlook are all required for success in this position.
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong proficiency in the areas mentioned above.
  • A college degree in Journalism is preferred.
  • Interested candidates should send writing and graphics samples.

Pay range: $35k-$49k annually.
