News 9 is looking for a news producer who will be overseeing its newsroom
Responsibilities:
- As an Executive Producer you will oversee daily newsroom operations in conjunction with news management
- Plan special events and projects
- Share responsibility for editorial content with Director of Content and Assistant News Director
- Supervises and schedules staff
- Works with producers to develop and create graphic production elements for the newscasts
- Support strategic development and execution for the organization while working effectively with Griffin companies
- Oversee news coverage, assignments, and website execution
- Work with content producers, video journalists and talent on the writing and production of news stories for on air and websites
- Critique work and performance of reporting and producing staff
- Maintain awareness of possible legal ramifications of stories and provide appropriate direction to minimize risk
- Deal with daily operations of the newsroom, resource allotment, and personnel development
- Liaison between production, news gathering and engineering
- Manage overtime within budget constraints
- Monitor company-owned social media accounts of on-air talent
- Work with producers and reporters on the writing and production of news stories and newscasts
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including driving an automobile for company business
- This is a full-time position primarily working Monday through Friday 2:00pm-11:00pm however hours and schedule may vary depending on demands of news coverage

- Related experience will be evaluated by Company management and may be substituted on the basis of two years of experience equals one year of education
- Five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a television newsroom
- Experienced journalist with track record of breaking big stories
- Must have a history with Freedom of Information requests and in dissecting complicated documents
- Must have excellent writing and coaching skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to make quick and appropriate decisions and gain the cooperation of others
- Must be able to work extended work schedules
- Extensive highway travel required
- Occasional travel by helicopter required
- Advanced knowledge of television technology and production equipment
- Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn new systems
- Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to the company
- Capable of handling the physical and mental requirements including:
- Ability to verbally communicate in English
- Ability to read computer monitor information (words and data)
- Ability to hear detailed spoken word
- Ability to remain sedentary and to travel to work location
- Ability to perform manual dexterity tasks with hands, fingers
- Ability to analyze data, concentrate, reason, and write
- Ability to perform under emotional stress
